It is such a pleasure to be exhibiting again to be holding a joint exhibition at the lovely gallery Artspace in Woodbridge by Suffolk artists Julia Wilmot & David Williams on Julia will be showing some really nice hand built pots, and David will be sharing some of his latest paintings, illustrations and prints. It's a nice space and easy to find.

"I’ve been painting, illustrating and designing since starting out in 1968 on the Art Foundation Course at Derby Art College, and doing a Fine Art degree in Newcastle.
As well as creating paintings for exhibitions and private commissions, my artwork and illustrations have also been used by many publishers and design agencies. These include work for: Card Connection, Jarrold Publishing, Camden Graphics, Hallmark, Simon Elvin, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Ginn and Company, House Beautiful, Good Housekeeping, the Spectator and the National Trust.
Though this current exhibition includes some illustration work, I’ve now returned mostly to my fine art roots, generally painting oils on canvas but also sketching and using watercolours. While fascinated by all kinds of art, past and present, my focus at present is working in a fairly loose, realistic style on a variety of subject matter - both outdoors on location, and in my studio in Suffolk.”

“When I began my journey in ceramics sixteen years ago, I quickly discovered that hand building was the technique that resonated most deeply with me. Its slower, more contemplative nature invites a quiet focus, allowing ideas to surface organically and creativity to unfold from a place of stillness. I work from a converted windmill studio nestled in my garden in rural Suffolk—a peaceful, inspiring space where I welcome visitors by appointment. Surrounded by nature, the studio provides the perfect setting for thoughtful, deliberate making and quiet reflection.
My aim is to create distinctive, one-of-a-kind ceramics that bring character and meaning into people’s homes. By combining techniques such as underglaze painting, hand piercing, and layered glaze application, each piece develops its own unique identity, ensuring no two works ever emerge from the kiln alike.”
